Unlock the Healing Power of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Simply spending time with animals is a proven way to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase happiness. Experiential therapy working with horses provides a unique and effective path to emotional well-being and personal growth.  As a compassionate and experienced therapist, I am dedicated to helping you overcome challenges and achieve lasting change.

I have worked with children, teens and families for over 30 years.  Most of my career was in the East Bay of California where I provided individual, group, family therapy, case management and in-depth psychosocial assessments  to be used for placement purposes.  Most clients  were involved with multiple agencies, such as special education, juvenile justice and social services so I am knowledgeable regarding those systems.

I grew up with horses and about twenty years ago I saw therapists partnering with horses in residential settings for adolescents.  Since then I have learned about this modality and currently hold a certificate from EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association).

My view of therapy, regardless of the modality,  is of a collaboration  – the client knows themselves best and the therapist's role is to guide the therapy process with respect to the client's goals.  It is a very personal experience, so matching up with a helping professional is important. I am aware that cultural differences between therapist and client can affect therapy and will do my best to address any issues if they come up.  If after we meet, you do not feel we are a good match, that is okay - I can try to help find someone who is.
